The building for the new Oceanium resonates with the scale of the cupola and the multi-storey building of the Markthalle complex, the Heuwaage viaduct and the Rialto building. The visitors’ route follows the flow of the ocean currents and forms a closed cycle as specified in the programme. A clever choreography emphazises the quality of the displays and creates a rich and diverse spatial experience for the visitors. The circuit is based on a functional arrangement of the fish tanks and the corresponding technical and service areas. Animal care and maintenance are facilitated by the interconnection of these secondary areas.
