The CPV/CAP Pensionskasse Coop owns the properties at Thiersteinerallee 7–11 and 19–21 in the
Gundeldingen (aka Gundeli) quarter. Five landmarks from the turn of the century are protected as historic buildings and form a common perimeter for the plan, with all of their façades to be renovated. In addition, the top floors/attics of Thiersteinerallee 19 and 21 are to be converted into two maisonette apartments and two single floor apartments. Furthermore, additional space for housing is also to be developed in a rear courtyard, which in former times was used with a storage building to turnover merchandise. The volumes of the new building–providing two new residential units on three floors–are carefully fit in between three existing firewalls with one contact to each of the walls. This creates very defined spaces that have very different characteristics and qualities, which will infuse the unused rear courtyard with new life again in the future.
