The new building of the school for curative education in Lyss emphasizes the characteristics of the site, the hillside, the river and the close-by forest, with a „soft“ structure that is flexibe like a lizzard. The angular shape gives the building a restrained look and bears individual reference to the natural landscape on every single level. The main access is located on the ground floor and the two outside areas with enclosures for small animals on the 1st level and the schoolgarden on the 2nd level are interconnected. These arrangements allow for a smooth running of the school and for the topography of the site to be actively perceived. It forms a small but rich world for the students and the teachers.
