The three apartments of the corner house from the nineteen thirties exhibit an extraordinary quality and generosity. The flats center on a spacious hall that gives access to a salon suite and two bedrooms. The kitchen is found next to the former maid’s room, a unique set-up for Basel that has not been altered with the restoration leaving the matrix mostly untouched. The bathrooms, the kitchen areas, the balconies and the two-leveled attic however were in need of reworking. The existing light well was removed and the newly acquired space was used to enlarge the wetrooms. Every apartment now posesses a bathroom and a separate lavatory with a shower facilty. The new installation shaft was installed in order to allow for individual arrangement of the kitchen on each floor with the option of integrating the adjacent former maid’s room. The balconies on the garden side were enlarged matching the building’s original style. With the renewal of the building equipment, the improvement of the insulation and the replacement of the old windows, the property has been brought up to date to the latest energy standards.
