The three building volumes in this project are compact and deep, allowing in between spaces to emerge, connecting the park with the city, and specifically implementing the stipulated differentiated spatial program in this neighborhood characterized by open urban development.
The new deep volumes create precise spaces on the street level as well as facing the park, which leads to the formation of a matter-of-fact overall statement. The obligation to ensure for noise protection has been solved in a discerning and convincing way through a variety of different apartments. A precise morphology typical of the quarter is established by spatially linking the three deep volumes with the park. The distribution of usage follows the Guggach III Syntheseplan and situates housing along Hofwiesenstrasse, while the main entrance to the school is positioned in relation to Wehntalerstrasse. The connecting element of the three buildings is the park, which structurally extends into the residential courtyards and areas for school breaks/playgrounds, thereby establishing remarkably generous outdoor spaces.
Achieved through a light touch, this urban planning strategy ensures that clear and rich spatial development can easily unfold, evoking a convincing kind of urbanity generated by a multitude of actors.
