Eight Houses and a Pavillion
A monography about selected houses by Luca Selva Architects
Layout by Bonbon
-
The single family residence plays a key role in the works of the Basel based office, Luca Selva Architects. The single family house is the means to explore questions about space, typology, design and phenomenology. Topics first investigated and executed in this context are often picked up again and enhanced in later projects of a different nature. Since its foundation in 1991, the office has created a string of exciting houses of diverse typologies such as a semi-detached house, a house for an art collector, a residence with an artist’s atelier as well as a multi-generation house. These buildings are being juxtaposed and presented in detail for the very first time.
The main part of the book comprises a detailed documentation of plans and photographs as well as a description of the individual houses. Textual contributions by Luca Selva, Christoph Wieser, Martin Rauch and Helmuth Pauli and an interview with Luca Selva by Daniel Buchner complete the book.
