The clear form and specific materialization enable the new Sammlungszentrum [Excavation Collection Center] to be recognizable as part of the Roman city. The property enclosure follows the course of the volumetry. A suspenseful sequence of operational works yards and interior courtyards creates attractive working conditions and enables a workshop atmosphere to emerge that combines concentration and efficiency. Movements of people and vehicles as well as archaeological excavation and collection finds follow the requirements for security and protection and facilitate the scientific processing of the finds by optimizing the flow between the procedures of delivery, cataloguing finds, storing finds in depots, and restoration. The office building with the workshops on the ground floor becomes the pulsating heart of the complex.
