Due to its position, the multi-generational house in Binningen benefits from a quiet residential area with a mesmerising view over the city of Basel. The structure develops into the depth of the plot to the south and naturally inserts itself into the existing park-like garden while absorbing the view over the city to the north. The floorplans are characterized by strong spatial structures of varying dimensions that create a sequence along the walk through the house sometimes focussing on the garden and sometimes on the city, while offering views from different angles of both. Differentiated ceiling heights provide each room with a specific character and result in a building volume that hints at the two different residential units in its facades.
